The "Am Plärrer" inner-city parking garage is located directly at one of Nuremberg's busiest intersections and offers 350 parking spaces at attractive rates of €2 per hour. Even before the project began, PRM used free-flow parking with license plate recognition to ensure high capacity utilization and a convenient parking experience.

Challenge - charging requirements are growing rapidly

Both tenants and short-term parkers were increasingly asking for charging options. The aim was therefore to convert the parking garage in just eight months and make it the most e-mobility-friendly facility in the city - without restricting ongoing operations.

Those who set up a future-proof charging infrastructure early on benefit - for operators and users alike.

Solution - Partner project PRM × Wattif

  • 20 AC charging points on the 2nd basement floor, including a reserved space for people with disabilities.
  • Destination charging approach: The vehicle charges continuously during the parking process - ideal for tenants and visitors.
  • Full visibility in all common e-navigation and roaming apps plus easy-to-understand guidance system and 3-step instructions on site.
  • User-friendly tariffs: There are no blocking fees for long-term tenants, which means that overnight charging is also possible.
  • 24/7 hotline and support for an all-round carefree charging experience.
The example of the Plärrer parking garage shows how quickly existing spaces can be transformed and create real added value.
Klaus Gumpp, Managing Director PRM

Result - added value for all

  • Highest density of charging points in the Franconian metropolis (Ø Nuremberg parking garages: 4-6 charging points).
  • Increased turnover for operators through additional parking and charging incentives.
  • Greater convenience for all user groups and a clear pioneering role in e-mobility.
  • Future security for the owners and positive effects for the city through higher charging point capacity.

Conclusion: In close cooperation with Wattif, PRM has turned the Plärrer parking garage in Nuremberg into a benchmark for modern, charging-friendly parking - a win-win situation for parkers, operators and the city alike.
